  • Was distributor for the Milwaukee Sentinel newspaper in his later years (as was his oldest son, Zeno in 1966.. Source: Granddaughter Pat Schultz Reeths.
  • Had a huge rolltop desk with a swivel chair in the end of the dining room where he worked. Source: Memories of granddaughter Mary Kay Schultz.
  • Played Santa Claus downtown. While sitting on his knee, his grandchildren could tell it was him as he had a stiff middle finger. He used this finger to count the money as the newspaper distributor. Source: Granddaughter Pat Schultz Reeths.
  • William's brother, Edward owned the ice house and soda pop factory in Two Rivers. William and his sons frequently helped Edward. It was at his ice house that William injured his finger which was subsequently stiff. Source: Betty Schultz Bauknecht.

Source: Betty Schultz Bauknecht. The fire department had no horses. William had his horses out of the stalls and harnesses at the ready in order to respond when the fire bell rang.   • When William was running the dray line, one horse reared up whenever it was next to the loading dock. William broke him by using a whip, had the whip on the back of the dray and snapped it----he took the tip of the horse's ear off---the horse was broken. Source: William's grandson, Tom Schultz.

Cemetery records for the same Section and Lot numbers as William and Mamie---no other information There are also 3 stones on the Bartelme-Schultz lot for Chester M.   • 1930 census shows family living at 1613 21st St. In addition to immediate family, census shows daughter-in-law Zella M, age 25, age at marriage--20, born in WI, father born in Canada, and mother born in WI. Census also shows Martin VanDonsel, a 21 year old boarder, born in MI, father born in WI and mother born in Germany. House was listed as being owned and valued at $7,000.   • William E. Schultz, 71, of 1613 21st street, Two Rivers, early day dray operator there, died this morning at Wisconsin General Hospital, Madison. Funeral services will be held at 9 A.M. Tuesday at St. Luke Catholic church, Two Rivers, with burial in Pioneers Rest cemetery. ( While this is what was written in newspaper----is an error---buried in Calvary Cemetery) He was born in Two Rivers in 1877 and when a young man assisted his father in the livery business. After the death of the elder Schultz in 1918 the livery business was discontinued and he engaged in operation of a dray line, parcels post and express business. He later become Two Rivers agent for the Herald-Times and was also distributor for the Milwaukee Sentinel. In 1903, he married Miss Mamie Bartelme. Mr. Schultz was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Catholic Order of Foresters and the Holy Name society at St. Luke church. Surviving are his wife; four sons, Zeno and Joseph of this city, Frederick of Appleton and Francis of Plymouth, Ind.; two daughters, Mrs. Robert Beitzel and Mrs. Floyd Bauknecht both of Two Rivers, brother Edward also of Two Rivers and 15 grandchildren. The body may be viewed after 3 p. m. Sunday at the Beduhn funeral home, Two Rivers, where the rosary will be recited at 7:45 p. m. Monday.
